Young Professionals Network

The Young Professionals Network (YPN) is an initiative of OxHA's youth workstream, engaging young people from diverse sectors in working towards preventing and reducing the global impact of chronic disease.

Overview

The invited members of the YPN online community are identified as future leaders in their fields, who are passionate about the broader social context of chronic disease and society in general. The members do not necessarily have particular expertise in the area of chronic diseases but, rather, an appreciation of the challenges that they pose and a willingness to engage in a dialogue relating to the issues.

The online community will meet via a discussion forum on the interactive website 3FOUR50 where, at this stage, they will discuss topics relevant to the Sydney Resolution. Forum topics will be updated about once a month.

If you are interested in joining the discussions, please contact Hester Rice [email], who will be able to give you more information about the group and any upcoming events taking place in your part of the world. We would be particularly pleased to hear from anyone interested in helping to run a local event.

Primarily an online community, the YPN hopes to host 'chapter-style' workshops around the globe, to identify and address issues appropriate to each cultural setting. Prior to each meeting, discussions would be held online in the YPN forum. This initial discussion will involve YPN members from all over the world, and will add content to the workshop. Similarly, after each workshop a briefing note on the meeting, as well as further discussions, will be posted in the forum. As the YPN community grows (both online and through the workshops), we hope to garner a real cross-pollination of ideas from varied professional and cultural perspectives.
