10 Oct 2005 | The WHO strategy will contribute to awareness-raising on chronic disease, and lead to a scaling up of community-based interventions in countries including Tunisia.
| 10 October 2005

This is a press release issued in response to the WHo report Preventing Chronic Disease: A Vital Investment, published in October 2005.

The WHO report entitled Preventing Chronic Diseases: A Vital Investment is timely and highly relevant. It will bridge gaps between health knowledge and policy. We believe that investing in chronic disease control is a strategic choice to tackle the forthcoming epidemics. The WHO strategy will make a major contribution to raising awareness of the chronic disease burden not only among health professionals but also among the public and policy-makers. This will lead to scaling up of chronic disease prevention and control in Tunisia and facilitate the implementation of community-based intervention programmes throughout the country.
