It takes two types of exercises…

21 Sep 2007 | …to combat type 2 diabetes effectively
| 21 September 2007

Scientists from the University of Calgary and the University of Ottowa in Canada are saying that the key to combating type 2 diabetes is using two types of exercise, rather than just one. The study found that diabetics who combined endurance exercise with strength training saw their blood sugar levels improve at twice the rate of those who only did one form of exercise.

It has long been known that regular physical activity helps people better manage their diabetes (or even prevent it in the first place). However, to date, there has been little research done to determine exactly what types of research are most effective. The study results seem to indicate that to have the greatest chance in reducing blood-sugar levels, diabetics should be engaging in a combination of cardiovascular and strength exercises, rather than one or the other.
